Minimizing production downtime is crucial for manufacturing companies, as each minute of downtime incurs significant costs. This work presents an active fault-tolerant control strategy consisting of various combinable approaches, all of which use signal interpreted Petri nets. The theoretical principles of the following approaches are developed in this book: creation of a digital twin, automatic generation of distributed logic controllers, identification of the plant behavior, estimation of the current system state, fault diagnosis, reconfiguration of controllers in the event of faults, and enforcement of current-state opacity. Each approach is illustrated with a practical example, bridging the gap between theoretical approaches and real-world manufacturing applications.
