How do non-citizen communities experience and navigate war and displacement within and from the country they have `made home' for generations? In a world where protracted displacement has become increasingly common, refugees may experience onward migration and multiple displacements, such as, for example, the displacement of Palestinians amid the conflicts in Syria, Libya and Lebanon, Iraqi refugees from Syria and Sahrawi refugees from Algeria and Libya. Despite this trend, secondary forced displacement remains largely understudied. This book attends to this gap by examining the experiences of Palestinian-Syrian refugees displaced from Syria as they navigate the humanitarian, economic and social space of refuge in Jordan. Grounded in fieldwork conducted in Jordan in 2019, the book contributes to knowledge produced on forced displacement and `home-making' and argues that the complexity of secondary-forced displacement requires a more nuanced understanding of home and belonging. To this end, the book puts forward the concept of `homescapes'.
